A new casino for real HIGH ROLLERS is to be built BETWEEN the mountain kingdoms of Nepal and Bhutan
The scheme is part of an expansion plan by India’s Mayfair Hotels & Resorts Pvt Ltd, which currently has resorts right across the dramatic foothills of the Himalayas in northern India.
While it sites new outlets in romantic-sounding places such as Siliguri, Kalimpong and Chilka on the old Silk Road, Mayfair will build the casino at its existing Gangtok hotel.
Sweet Spot
Gangtok sits in a part of India’s Sikkim province nestling between Bhutan and Nepal — where all gaming is BANNED — and buts up against gambling-mad China.
Gaming firms from the US, India, Russia and Malaysia are currently bidding to operate the business when it opens next year.
Mayfair says it also plans to tap into niche tourism areas — such as wedding and spa holidays — through its properties.
